Announcement from CEO on NFPA Technical Committee Appointments
I am pleased to announce that ACP has secured membership on the Technical Committee for NFPA 1600 (Recommended Practice for Disaster Management). ACP national directors, Ginnie Stouffer (Principal) and Brian Strong (Alternate), were recently selected to fill our organizational seat on the 48 member committee and serve as one of the 31 primary members. NFPA 1600 is the current US national standard for disaster management, and one of three standards recently approved by FEMA for accreditation under the Private Sector Preparedness Program (PS-Prep). As a member of the Technical Committee, our representative will be responsible for oversight, review and approval of the standard under auspices of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The most recent edition of NFPA 1600 was released this year and is on a 3-year renewal cycle. Ginnie and Brian will work on the 2013 version of NFPA 1600 for the next 3 years. Please join me in congratulating Ginnie and Brian on their selection and this distinct recognition of ACP as a key member of the national contingency planning profession.
As some of you may know, ACP also has an organizational seat on the Technical Committee for the new national standard on business continuity management being developed by ASIS International for ANSI. Serving on both Technical Committees ensures ACP's role in and input for two of the leading standards driving our professional practices today and tomorrow.

Message from the CEO: Chapters are a very important link between the member and the organization. In fact, chapters provide the conduit through which many of ACP benefits are made available.
ACP provides a forum for the exchange of experiences and information through a network of local chapters. Chapters offer members convenient, low-cost educational programs and many other benefits.
The ACP Corporate Board stands ready to assist in the development and operation of a chapter. The primary liaison between the chapter and the Board is the Director of Chapter Services. We are committed to our mission to provide a powerful network for the advancement of the industry and the development of business continuity professionals.
I wish you every success in your endeavors.
Sincerely,
Mike Thomson
